FOR Moura's Liam Wragge, turning 12 today is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, not only for him but his family and friends as well.

This year, Liam will turn 12 on December 12, 2012 or 12/12/12.

The triple date sequence is a unique experience for all involved as this will be the last time something such as this occurs on the calendar for about 100 years.

"It's pretty cool," Liam said.

"It only happens once in a while."

Liam's mum Karen Wragge said she didn't plan on Liam having a 12th of the 12th of the 12th birthday.

"No, it wasn't planned," she laughed.

"When he was born, we didn't think much of it.

"It wasn't until the last couple of years that we have thought he would be celebrating his 12th birthday then. Now that it's here, it is a bit exciting.

Karen said to celebrate the special date, Liam was having a disco party.

"The kids normally have a birthday party for their 13th but, because of the special date, we said Liam could have something for his 12th."

But Liam isn't the only one in his family with a special birthday this year. His cousin also turns 12 on December 12.
