RICHARD Bowles has not let bad weather or watercourses stop him from running around Toowoomba's outskirts today as part of his 5330km journey along Australia's rugged Bicentennial National Trail.

Mr Bowles ran from near Preston through Upper Flagstone Ck and down the Toowoomba Range to Withcott this morning.

He is raising money in support of SANE Australia's work with people with mental illness.

He said his journey had taken him along some rugged parts of the country and through numerous creek crossings with water up to his chest.
