Plane down with 150 feared dead

OFFICIALS in Nigeria say it is unlikely anyone survived when a passenger plane carrying more than 150 people crashed into a residential area of the capital Lagos.

The local Dana airlines flight was carrying at least 153 people when it plunged into the ground in Nigeria's largest city.

All those on board are feared dead and a rescue official said he believed a number of people had been killed on the ground.

A fire raged at the scene of the crash and a number of buildings were badly damaged.

An official with the National Emergency Management Agency said the plane had hit two buildings: a church and a two-storey residential building.
