Netballers achieve goal
BILOELA'S netball team showed they could run with the big guys when they travelled to the Pam Moore Netball Carnival at Gladstone.
Six Biloela teams contested the event, with four reaching the finals.
Two of the club's open teams, Cockatoos and Brolgas, were runners-up in senior division one and two respectively, while Epic were runners-up to Sapphires in the junior division three category.
Coach convenor and Sapphires' coach Shari Hancox said the competition was a great opportunity for the teams to put their training into practice.
"It's really good for the teams," Ms Hancox said. "It really develops their play.
"You can train all you like but it just doesn't compare to actually getting to put it into action. It was a great first carnival for the season."
Ms Hancox said carnivals such as this allowed the teams to see how they were progressing.
"It's really good, because sometimes, when you go to those competitions, you don't know how you will go against the other clubs," she said.
Ms Hancox said Gladstone's Pam Moore Carnival was good practice for the teams before they travelled to the Sullies Carnival at Rockhampton next weekend.
She said the Rockhampton carnival would be massive.
"Over 1000 players go to the carnival and we will be taking eight teams."
The Biloela club now has more players than ever travelling to various carnivals.
