Millions to be hit by virus

A VIRUS that infected millions of computers all over the world last year could take effect today, but it is easy to find out if your computer has the malware.

The United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation identified the virus in November 2011, called DNS Changer Malware, and closed down a ring of cyber criminals responsible for its creation.

But the virus, which is estimated to have infected some four million computers world-wide, will take effect today.

An Australian Government initiative, Stay Smart Online, has created a website internet users can visit to ensure their computer has not been affected.

Go to www.dns-ok.gov.au to diagnose your computer, or alternatively, visit the FBI's www.dcwg.org
