John Butler settles with ad agency
MELBOURNE indie rocker John Butler has settled with the ad company that used one of his famous melodies in a yoghurt commercial.
The Dannon Oikos yoghurt advertisement, which starred actor John Stamos, featured a tune bearing a strong similarity to his chart-topping composition Zebra.
The ad originally aired to an estimated 111.3 million viewers in the US during the 2012 Super Bowl and Butler's fans were quick to point out the alleged rip off on Twitter.
Butler's management released a statement today stating he and USA advertising agency Poptent had come to a "satisfactory settlement".
"The advertisement will no longer contain this particular piece of music and both parties are happy this issue is behind them," the statement said.
The statement was also posted on the John Butler Trio's Facebook page.
