A MAN has been jailed after burgling his ex-girfriend and breaching domestic violence orders against her.

The 32-year-old man, who can't be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to the crimes in the District Court in Mackay this week.

Judge Stuart Durward said the man, who had previously breached domestic violence orders against two ex-girlfriends and had "committed DV with respect to (his) sisters" clearly had "no respect for women".

In the past, he'd used threats and "foul language" against women and had behaved "worse than a teenager", the judge said.

Crown prosecutor Susan Hedge said that on August 2 last year, the man entered his ex-partner's home.

He was told to leave, then he saw a man in the woman's bedroom and kicked the door and yelled.

He made the "quite concerning threat" to burn the door and held a lighter and aerosel can up.

Between July 19 and August 2 last year, the man breached a domestic violence order five times.

Ms Hedge said he'd slashed his ex-girlfriend's tyres, physically abused her, followed her and sent her text messages.

His criminal history included numerous public nuisance offences, including a fight outside and nightclub, a fight in a street and an incident where he swore at police.

Defence barrister Stephen Byrne said the burglary was a "low-end" example of a home invasion, as it occurred at midday, the man was alone and unarmed and did no actual damage.

Mr Byrne said at the time the man was a heavy ice user, using a number of "points" (0.1 grams) on a daily basis.

The man was in a new relationship and hoped to obtain mining work in the future.

Judge Stuart Durward took into account the 137 days the man had spent in custody.

He was sentenced to two years in jail, with a parole release date of January 5 next year.
