Festival adds Ben Lee to line-up

HE MAY sing about a lot going on while nothing happens but that couldn't be further from the truth for the sixth annual Caloundra Music Festival.

It was revealed yesterday that ARIA Award-winner Ben Lee will be joining the festival line-up along with Galactic, Noiseworks, Ian Moss and Stonefield.

Lee has released eight solo albums and earned himself six ARIA awards and a dozen more nominations.

Other acts already on the bill include The Living End, John Butler Trio, The Cat Empire, Noiseworks, The Whitlams, Darren Percival, Ball Park Music, Lanie Lane and Bustamento.

Festival director Richie Eyles said it was the best line-up in the festival's six-year history.

"It's really a reflection of the growing reputation of the event," he said.

Ticket sales have been healthy but Eyles believes the latest additions to the line-up will boost sales.

Despite the impressive list of Aussie names on the bill Eyles is most looking forward to seeing New Orleans' Trombone Shorty and Galactic take the stage.

The two acts are playing exclusively for the Caloundra Music Festival and will play across the three days.

He described Galactic as a jam band who played carnival, party music.

"They will be playing before Ballpark Music and The Living End and they better watch out as these guys will blast off the stage," Eyles said.

"It will be great to share some New Orleans flavour with the locals."

The festival will be held over the weekend of September 28-30.

Tickets are available from caloundramusicfestival.com.
