Newman addresses Parliament House

REGIONAL Queensland could be in the box seat to benefit from the LNP's sweep into government.

Premier Campbell Newman, who addressed the members of his 72-strong team at Parliament House for the first time today, urged his troops to look after their electorates.

He said they must remember they were now "servants of the people of Queensland".

"We all have a primary responsibility to the people of our electorates, those who directly supported us," he said.

"I respect your rights to stand up for their needs and requirements."

Mr Campbell said the overwhelming victory meant most regions in Queensland had a representative in his ear.

"We have an optimistic and enthusiastic team, and we have pledged to grow the economy, lower the cost of living for families by cutting waste, delivering better infrastructure and planning, revitalising frontline services and restoring accountability in government," he said.
