MICHAEL Crichton died while writing this book in 2008 and Richard Preston completed it.

In Crichton's unfinished introduction he expressed concern over how little interaction the new generation of schoolchildren have with nature.

So in true Crichton style he fused fact with fiction to create a world where nature is magnified, displayed and explained.

Nanigen Microtechnologies comes under suspicion when three men are found dead, with no sign of violence and only minute razor sharp cuts, and seven graduate students disappear.

These students find themselves caught up in a web of deception.

They are thrown into a hostile environment where they are preyed upon by gigantic creatures and by a technology that is extreme and menacing.

Their only chance of survival is to use their knowledge of the world of nature to combat all these threats.

This is a pulsating piece of fiction that could possibly be made into another blockbuster like Crichton's Jurassic Park.
